About Bollywood

Bollywood refers to the cultural and film hub centered in Mumbai, using the Hindi language. Besides Bollywood, India also has Tollywood, Kollywood, and other film centers. However, due to its fame, Bollywood is sometimes mistakenly thought to represent not just Mumbai or India, but even the whole South Asian film scene.

Bollywood dance is a style used in Indian films, blending modern, classical, folk, and Western dance. It’s a big part of Indian movies, often called “Indian dance” or “Bollywood dance.”

India Folk Dance

Kathak is a classical dance form that originates from the northern regions of India, characterized by intricate footwork, graceful movements, and expressive storytelling.

Garba is a traditional Indian folk dance that originates from western state of Gujarat, India. It’s often performed during the Navratri festival, a nine-night celebration honoring the Hindu goddess Durga.

Ghoomar is a traditional folk dance that originates from the northwestern state of Rajasthan, India. Women, dressed in vibrant attire, perform this graceful dance at festivities and weddings.

Kuchipudi is a traditional classical dance form that originates southern state of Andhra Pradesh, India. In the past the dance performed by Brahmin men in temples. Nowadays, it evolved to include both men and women, portraying mythological tales.
